“Describe yourself in one word.”
Everyone’s encountered this dreaded prompt in one form or another. Whether in a college essay, icebreaker, or job interview, it almost always induces an internal eye roll from its victim. In our humble opinion, it’s a pretty steep order.
Hello. We’re a group of four young women in various transitional stages of life who each find the task above particularly difficult. Jumbled together we’re a mouthful of labels: med student, Italian, liberal, procrastinator, perfectionist, newlywed, minority, Mormon, Catholic, idealist, pessimist, tree hugger, conservative, reluctant feminist…Each one is accurate but not all are definitive or simplistic. That’s where the blog comes in. Every week we’ll share and comment on our various “labels” and invite guest bloggers to do the same. We’re hoping to strike every note from silly to insightful. Who knows? Maybe we’ll learn something about each other. After all, we might not fit into our self descriptive categories neatly, but life would be boring if we did…right?
